How to limit flood damage
Brewsters article in the Scunthorpe Telegraph, August 13, 2008.
The article talked about preventative measures to limit flood damage.
Firstly, install floorboards, which are relatively easy to fit and can be etiher purpose built or constructed. Secondly, be wary of porous materials in the home. If flood water does enter your home, kitchen units made using chipboard or MDF are almost impossible to dry out and disinfect. Thirdly, install drains that can be plugged. Drains can be your most valuable assets when extracting flood water, but also the opposite when the water is coming the other way.
